Magazine Essential Parts

Selling line - A short description of the titles main subject.
Dateline - Month and year it was published.
Main image - The front cover image of a magazine.
Model credit - The name of the model in the image.
Cover lines - The top subjects in the magazine.
Bar code - Bar code used by retailers.
Main cover line - The main subject of the magazine.
Left third - To help tell what the magazine is when mostly covered up.

Photoshop Notes
Save As
Rename your image
Make sure the image is saved as a .jpg at the highest (maximum) image quality.
Save
You do not have to rename the image at this point. Save often and regularly.
Nestle
Tools are stacked on each other - to access those tools you have to left click and hold.
USE COMMAND KEYS!!!!
Command+ = zoom in
Command- = zoom out
Cmd o = open
Cmd c = copy
Cmd v = paste
Cmd z = undo
Cmd, shift, z = step backward
Cmd s = save
Cmd p = print
Cmd l = levels
To turn an image go to
>Image>Image Rotation
CW and CCW
CW = Clockwise
CCW = counter-clockwise
180 = 1/2 rotation
Adjustments Levels
>Image>Adjustments>Levels
Channel Blue
Channel Green
Channel Red
Moved just the black and white hersheys kiss
Adjusting Contrast
Channel RGB - moved just the brown hershey kiss (just a little lighter)
Cropping
Select the cropping tool and then click and drag the area you want to crop. Before you crop, you must enter the resolution you want your image to be saved to.
Resolution Guidelines:
Yearbook = 300
Newspaper = 150
Web = 72
Grayscale
Image>Mode>Grayscale

5. Lasso Tool - A tool used to select parts of the photo. It is used by drawing a shape on the photo.
6. Text Tool - A tool that allows you to add text to the image.
7. What buttons do you push to "Undo" a mistake you made?
Command/Control+Z to undo the last action you made.
8. What can you open "undo" more then one mistake? How do you open it?
By going to Window --> History menu then choosing the action you wish to go back to.
